~Local Fields & Woods~
30th April 2011
A late afternoon stroll around some fields and woods fairly close to home. In between Padiham and Sabden, but not really anywhere according to the map.

Moor Barn
Apologies to viewers not familiar with East Lancashire, this is quite a "local" walk. I parked near to Black Hill - red spot on the map (later).
Walk Route
The walk goes down the field and next to the woods, where I found a strange brick building...
What's This?
Well ventilated building with no access on either side and a locked lid. Situated in a little valley next to the stream.

Field and Woods
Verdant pastures and shady woods!

Walk Views
Unusually, I've put a map at the foot of the page so that locals can see where I walked and decide if they would want to do the same sort of thing one day
Law Farm
This is at the lowest point of the walk, it's all uphill from here.
Road
The one bit of road walking was in Simonstone, near Read. At the top of this lane, it's back off road and heading for New Hall.

Shady Woods
These woods are one of my local favourites, I've been here many times over the years.
Fallen Tree
This beech tree has been on the deck for more than 10 years, probably nearer 20. It continues to leaf and the remaining branches have turned skywards. Many names and initials are carved into the trunk.
